Mavic begins the manufacture of the Cosmic Carbone SLR with a Maxtal aluminum rim, and brings it together with a seamless, SUP weld. The brake track is then milled for a smooth finish. The use of a Maxtal rim is a natural choice, given Maxtal's strength to weight ratio and good braking characteristics. Mavic then mills out the space between the spokes on the rim, which reduces rotational weight without sacrificing strength or stiffness.
